Local HeroI was the regular illustrator for a children's magazine feature called God's Mysterious Ways. They were true stories about miracles in the lives of real children (or that would be understandable and interesting to children). The model was a guy in my Sunday school class. The girl was made up entirely. The editor was more concerned that her clothes be trendy and cool than anything else, so she provided me with a lot of catalog tear-sheets.
